If you’re looking for a unique and delicious addition to your wedding festivities, look no further than the Pittsburgh Cookie Table! This tradition, which originated in the Pittsburgh area, involves setting up a table filled with an impressive array of homemade cookies for guests to enjoy. One recent example of this tradition was at a “Welcome to the Wedding Weekend” party aboard the Lady of the Lake, where the cookie table included three and a half tables, with hundreds of cookies and over 20 varieties!

Maura, the mother of the groom, was the driving force behind this particular cookie table. When asked about her favorite cookie to make, she replied, “I think the favorite cookies come from a recipe book that I assembled of our grandmother’s cookie recipes. She baked for every family occasion. This makes the tradition especially meaningful for us. ‘Mum-mum’ would be so honored that her no-bake cookies and Buckeyes continue to be among the fan favorite cookies!” It’s clear that this cookie table was not only a delicious addition to the wedding festivities, but also a meaningful way to honor family traditions!

Another unique aspect of this particular cookie table was the fact that it was a collaborative effort between both families. “Since the wedding was a destination wedding for most of my family (the groom’s family), almost all family and friends were flying in. So, I could not easily enlist the usual team of bakers. This actually ended up making the Cookie Table even more special!” Maura said “My now-daughter-in-law’s family and friends enthusiastically joined in the baking! Her mom is one of 8 siblings! So, between my sister and a couple of close friends, there were 25+ hours invested and adding in close to 15 team-bride bakers, I am sure over 100 hours went into baking over 20 cookie varieties!” This shows that the Pittsburgh Cookie Table is not only a fun and delicious tradition, but also a great way to bring families and friends together to create something special!
