One of the grand traditions of Geneva Lake, marine mail delivery has taken place here for 90 years. One of the oldest continuous running marine mail routes in the country, delivery to 50-60 lakefront homes takes place each year from June 15 to September 15. In 1916 it was a necessity to have goods and services delivered by boat because there were no roads around the lake. In this era of email it is nice to know that a simple tradition of delivering the mail still continues aboard the Walworth. To celebrate this special tradition Lake Geneva Cruise Line sponsored a "Mailboat Reunion" on Monday, July 3. Mail jumpers and Captains from years past and present attended and shared stories about their experiences aboard the Walworth. Plans are being made for this to be come a more regular event.
